OUR BEGINNINGS WERE HUMBLE
Shop owner Janice Jones began her career unintentionally back in the 1980s, painting farmhouse scenes and hearts on wooden furniture cut out by her brother-in-law, back when “country was cool.” She started painting on whatever she could get her hands on, which led to garage/yard sales, snagging old stools, benches, dressers and tables to paint, which she sold at craft booths. Janice opened a shop on Main Street in Gloucester with a partner for a few years before moving to Mathews. Her scenes morphed more to cottage-by-the-sea. Janice excelled in making old things new again. Her shop, which was originally her original creations plus consignments, never looked like an antique store. Things didn’t look old—they looked fresh and new.
The business has expanded to a second building on Buckley Hall Road in Mathews where Janice holds estate sales, both online and in-person.
